Research and projects
With a background in fundamental physics and experience in high-tech startups, I work on computational and data-driven modeling in engineering and on the software engineering it takes. I release my work as open source and contribute to the projects it builds on. Four areas at the moment:
Fusion energy
Microwave heating of fusion plasmas.
- Raytrax – open-source Python library for electron cyclotron resonance heating, which I started at Proxima Fusion

Batteries
Physics-based and data-driven modeling of next-generation cells and battery systems.
- PathSim-Batt – battery cell blocks I maintain for the PathSim simulation framework, built on PyBaMM
Code-based engineering
Parametric modeling, geometry and design space exploration in Python.

- Programming CAx systems – my course at HM
Open data and digital humanities
Family and local history are a long-standing personal interest of mine, and open data is where I think their sources belong.
- Domus – map-based platform for researching house history and recording it directly in Wikidata and OpenHistoricalMap, described in a preprint
- Gramps Web – open-source, self-hosted platform for collaborative family tree research, which I maintain
